Guidelines for the Spiral/Interactive Journal
Introduction: In general, spiral journals in my classes will have a “left side, right side” orientation to help you record, organize, and process new information. Much of your class work and homework will be done in your journal. Journals will be organized in this way:
Use the following writing standards when completing Spiral Journal Assignments: 1. All entries must have a date and title. 2. Use blue or black ink. 3. Write or print legibly. 4. You may type and glue your response to the page. 5. Follow the length guidelines [Example: ½ page]. Minimum requirement is one paragraph (5-8 sentences). 6. Complete the assignment after you have read the reading selection. 7. Cut and glue the Writing Spiral Journal Assignment to the right hand side and respond on the left hand side.
Grading
Journals will be collected and fully graded each semester. In addition, portions of the journal will be randomly checked and awarded points. You will not know ahead of time when these will occur.
All work should be well organized and neat. Title pages should be creative, colorful and reflective of the unit we are working on. Below please find the handouts and documents distributed in class for the Interactive Journal over the course of the year. All files are in PDF format so you will need Adobe Acrobat sofware in order to view or print the files. The software is free. |
